Shadowlands

Rusty Spell -- For a DVD that tends to be sold in the six dollar bin, this is actually quite good. The featurette is nice, there are interesting interviews with the cast members, some behind the scenes footage, and lots of trailers. Most fans would be happy enough to have this quiet little movie on DVD at all, but it's nice that it was presented well.

Suspiria

Tommy Burton -- This Italian horror film is supposed to be one of the scariest of all time. I don't know about all of that, but it does contain some eye-popping colors and some genuine squirmy moments. Dario Argento's use of colors make the film look like a wild fairy tale. The plot is predictable, but is easily forgiven by the imaginative look and feel of the film. It is something to behold and a worthy film to be sure. The DVD is presented in DTS and has been THX certified. The sound is very lively and the film itself is quite clean. The three-disc limited edition contains three discs. The first is the film, trailers, TV and radio spots, and a still gallery. The second contains a 25th anniversary documentary featuring original cast members and director. The third disc is a remastered version of the Goblin soundtrack (not the kind of stuff you'll walk around humming). If you have to have it all, go for the limited set, otherwise the special edition will do just nicely.
